We left the house Thursday morning and headed down for a nice, chatty drive....aside from the 15 minutes of peace when all 3 boys fell asleep for a hot second. Blaine and I have the constant debate of which way is best to get there....but whoever drives gets to choose. Blaine drove and we went the way of the ferry....I may just be a convert as of this year. Aside from having to wait at the ferry for 50 minutes for an enormous oil rig to slooooooowly float across our path before we could cross, it was a really nice and fast drive.
The house was beautiful and the best location yet, a big open floor plan on the main level and 6 nice bedrooms. We claimed our space and headed out to the beach to wait for everyone else. In true Susu fashion, she took the boys shopping a few days before we headed out and let them each pick out some really awesome stuff for the beach. But by far, the best thing they got was these nets. Eli did not leave the house without it. It was right up his alley with his fish obsession.
Man, these boys....melt.my.heart.
Right away, Eli was catching little fish! While the other boys went to jump waves.
Everyone was up early Friday morning, and the guys headed out for their fishing day out on the boat. I headed out with the boys bright and early to open up the beach. Eli was begging to go fishing, and while I could not take him on my own that day, he did take a pole out and fished from the shore. My dad had taken all the hooks with him on the boat, so a nice fisherman who was also on the beach was nice enough to give us one of his. I was very aware that Eli did not stand a chance to catch anything, but he was content going through the motions and remained optimistic that he would catch something. He, or course, did not.
Rachel was back and forth with nap schedules while the guys were gone, so we headed out to see our friends the Goss' that afternoon. We met up at their condo went swimming and then Sophia schooled the boys on some card games before we headed back to the house. It was fun to see our friends in Port A since apparently we can't make it happen in Austin!
We spent the rest of the trip back and forth between the beach and the pool....snacking at the house, cooking, eating and playing games.
Eli even caught a starfish with his net! And a few "larger" fish!
He got really good at catching these little baby fish, and we made a few little "aquariums" for them in the sand!
Cash was a maniac in the ocean...jumping waves non stop, driving into them, swimming...he loved it.
Savannah enjoyed her first time at the beach...eating sand was her favorite!

My dad and Hobo took the boys out to the pier to fish one afternoon, and we of course made the journey to the candy shop and to do some souvenir shopping.
We had our own little wildlife sanctuary below our balcony that the boys spent hours watching. There were two giant crabs that lived down there that they would feed every morning by putting different food on the end of a fishing pole and watch them fight over it. There was also a garden snake and a huge rat that lived down there we saw every day.
Our last morning there, we woke up early so we could make one last trek to the beach before we packed up and headed home. Blaine stayed back to help pack up and get my parents car packed and Ethan and I headed down there, with a kite and wagon in tow.
We all had such an amazing time. I feel so blessed that we are able to go on this trip all together every year. I never want to take for granted how lucky I am that I was given this family.
