And its been hailing at our house!
Since we figured Blaine would be spending more time than usual at home the next few weeks, I went out on Wednesday to stock up on all kinds of snacks and food to have at home. It was the perfect time of day to go to the grocery store. As I was driving there I thought to myself "this is perfect, I'm not at all hungry, so I wont impulse buy things I don't need just because I'm hungry." By the time I made it to the pickle isle and I felt myself salivating at the thought of some bread and butter pickles, I knew my feeling of being full had since vanished. I left the grocery store with more food than I had bought in a long time and spent an ridiculous amount of money. Not to mention that by the time I had gotten home, a box of cookies and a bag of peanut butter filled pretzels had already been broken into to. I thought we were set for a while in the food department.
We were slowly starting to settle into life with a broken leg. I didn't realize just how much I depended on Blaine and his two legs! Blaine breaking his leg was when the storm rolled in...
It started to thunder when Eli developed a rash all over his head and who projectile vomits every time I give him his medicine (which, by the way, isn't working) and leaks out of all his diapers--another side effect of his medicine--diareah--lovely. He is constantly rubbing his head back and forth while he is sleeping, I'm sure because its itchy and is having trouble sleeping soundly (which is a whole other struggle). We also have to put a topical antibiotic on his head making him him look like Danny Zuko from
Grease with his hair all greased back from the ointment! I find myself trying to hide his head from any on-lookers because I must say, he looks pretty ridiculous with all that gunk in his hair.
What happened next? Oh right, I remember...I came home from running an errand yesterday and walked into an 80 degree house. Yes, our AC took a dive. We call our handy AC repair man Robert who has helped us out before and he puts us on his schedule for the evening. It wouldn't be such a huge problem if A. it wasn't 93 degrees outside, and B. if we didn't have a baby who needed to go to sleep!
We thought it best to get out of the house and grab some dinner, so we went out to Waterloo for some burgers. Eli thought it would be the best time and place to lose his cool and scream/cry through dinner. I guzzled down my margarita and our meals we got out of there!
So being the emotional eater that I am, we get home and I go straight to the freezer to pull out some ice cream for desert. Only to discover that my ice cream is now just chocolate milk. Frantically, I call Blaine to the kitchen and as he hops over, I realize EVERYTHING in the freezer is melted, the ice is dripping water all over the floor, and the refrigerator is slowing becoming warmer and warmer.....ALL the food I had just bought is now about to be spoiled. By this time its already passed 8pm (way passed Eli's bedtime) and we are frantically emptying out the ice machine and leaky food while Eli is slowly starting to crash.
So we packed our bags and headed to my parents house to sleep in thier cool house! Today we begin our quest for a new fridge.
To sum it up, we have a broken leg, a rashy head, projectile vomit, and leaky diapers, a cranky baby, broken AC, broken refrigerator and whole bunch of spoiled groceries--all in a days work!
Im hoping the storm has passed, the clouds are moving through and the sun is about to come back out (at least i hope)!
