If at First You Dont Succeed, Keep Trying

I watched Cash do this over and over again at least 8 times before I got out my phone!
I guess we know he does not give up! He was would get up, study the floor and try again!

A side note: Yes, the boys mattresses are on the floor, we just got them new ones and havent bought them beds yet.  And yes, their room is a DISASTER so please excuse the mess!!!

Last Days of Summer

School starts this week.

 Can I get a HALLELUJAH!?!?!?!?!?

But with summer coming to an end, we are tying up some loose ends, like all going to the dentist, getting well-checks for Cash and Owen, haircuts, and getting in some last minute outings and gearing up for school!
But here is a little round-up of the last few weeks.

As of late, we have spent almost every morning in the backyard first thing in the morning.
The boys are pretty much obsessed with playing in the backyard.  We did not play much in our backyard at our old house, so for them, its like the greatest thing ever.  To be honest, our backyard needs a lot of love at this point, but the boys don't care one bit.  They are out there starting about 7:30 am in their pajamas until I pull them inside and make them come in. There is not a lot of grass, or any really, right now, so every time they come in they look like sweaty, homeless kids who have been sleeping under a bridge.  But the backyard has become one of their favorite places.

Owen certainly has his moments of being really sweet with Cash. I somehow captured a sweet moment with Owen helping Cash get his shoe back on.  Most of the time he is pushing him out of the way, or putting things on his head and cracking up or stealing toys from him.  But even though he finds him "in the way" a lot of times, he wont let me get him out of his crib without his help every single morning and after nap.  And if I do....its meltdown city!

I look out the window and find them like this a lot of times. I wonder what they are talking about!

This is apparently the best place to eat breakfast!

I have logged about about 200 miles running this summer with my fair share of dips in Barton Springs afterwards with my running buddy Katie.

I took Eli and Owen to their first movie this summer.  Our original plan was for Blaine to take them and I was going to stay home with Cash so they could have some extra special Daddy time.  But when one of my friends organized a few moms and their 'big' boys to go to the movies while dads stayed home with the littles, I couldn't pass it up and I knew having their friends there would be the icing on the cake!  I honestly haven't seen a movie in probably two years so I was pretty excited even though Planes would not have been my first choice.
Despite these sour faces, they were very excited about it and had been talking about it all day! Owen fell asleep in the car on the 3 minute drive to the theatre so he was still waking up from his snooze.
All the boys were excited and really chatty when we first got in the theatre. Eli sat like this almost the whole time and seemed in awe.
Owen was really excited about the popcorn and thought everything was hilarious for the first few minutes and would repeat random things back to me really loud and crack up.  Then he proceeded to tell me he needed to go to the bathroom every 5 minutes.
But after the third trip to the bathroom, and his increased antsy-ness, he crawled into my lap and spent the rest of the movie there....fast asleep.

We got a new car!
Its actually this really cool 60's pedal car.  The boys really like to play with it and Blaine has some plans to fix it up a bit.

We had a little visitor for a week this summer. Frankie came and stayed with us while Rachel and Hobo were out of town since she is staying with them while my parents house is being renovated.

She knows Cash is a little crumb machine and would follow him around and just wait for him to drop food.  I did not think I was ready for a dog, but after having Frankie around and not having to sweep after every meal, it definately made me think twice.
We took a spur of the moment trip to Chuck E Cheese.  We had plans to go with some friends one day and it did not end up panning out but Eli and Owen heard me talking about it on the phone and would not leave me alone about it.  It was our first time there (and maybe last for a while).
It started off pretty tame...
and then they started to look around and started playing games...
and then Eli and Jonah were off and did not stop....
...while Cash liked the Skee Ball game...

Eli won a chance in the Ticket Blaster, and he got cold feet when it was time to get it, so Owen and I got in instead.

I think we pulled out something like 300 tickets from there!
At the end of our time there, they each got to pick out a few things from the case before heading home.

The house is still a work in progress.  We are losing some momentum, but still have some ongoing projects.  We had all of our oaks pruned up and are looking pretty now, and had all of our front bushes pulled out so we can put in a porch.

The boys were glued to the window watching this guy using a chainsaw and the other guy who was crazy high at the top of our big oak in front of the house.

Owen and Cash both had their well-checks.

They both checked out with a clean bill of health with the exception of some crazy eczema pretty much all over Owen's body.  We will be going to see a pedi dermatologist soon to get it under control.
Owen:
Weight- 33lbs (50%)
Height- 38 inches (50%)
BMI- 16.3 (50%)

Cash:
Weight- 21 lbs (25-50%)
Height- 30 inches (50%)
Cash is 13 months now and all of a sudden doesnt seem like a baby anymore.  Sniff.
He is running, climbing on everything, feeding himself with a spoon and fork, wants to color, steals toys from his brothers, is a tad devious, and understands way more than he lets on.
His independent eating does not usually end up without a huge mess.

We have hung out with friends and family.

But the best news of all is that the boys will have their first cousin in February!!!!!  Rachel is pregnant and we could not be more excited!!!!  Yay Baby Davis!
