Playing Hooky
Dont judge. We let Eli play hooky for the first couple of hours of school last week. All three boys have been begging to go back to the skate park at House Park. The afternoons get really crowded there so we always so "no" when they ask to go after school. Not to mention there just is not enough time in the afternoons with homework these days. The skating crowd can be a little sketchy as well and with them being little kids, its easy for them to get in the way. So early morning time before "that crowd"is out riding and hitting the reefer is the best time to get out there.
Thursday morning was beautiful! We headed down there about 8:30. The boys were on cloud 9!!! On Eli's birthday before I got home from New Orleans for Brooke's bachlorette party, Blaine took the boys to the Vans store and bought them all high top "skate shoes." So that morning they put on their new shoes, and coolest skating clothes and off we went.
The all practiced their tricks of choice that they have been working on perfecting, and skated around the park.
It was all fun and games until Cash started to strip. That was our cue that is was time to get going.
We headed straight to Kiker to take Eli to school from there. On the way, I told him that if anyone asked where he was, to just tell them we had a family thing we were doing together. It was not totally lying, just leaving out the fact that we went to the skate park. When I picked Eli up from school I asked if anyone had asked where he was. He told me that only Mrs. Sebek (his stickler of a teacher) did. After she asked him where he was, he told her that he forgot! What?!?!? He said he forgot what I had told him to say if anyone asked so he just said he forgot. Lesson learned--dont ask my 7 year old to lie!
But it was totally worth it, we had a wonderful morning together and I am looking forward to taking them back again soon....on the weekend.
