Dear Cash

You are FIVE years old. I feel like you became a big kid over night.

You are still SO cuddly, and ask me regularly to cuddle with you, or you grab my hand just to hold it, or want to be held, or sit as close to me as humanly possible.  But I can feel you becoming older, and less needy. I can see you becoming more confident and more mature. And as much as I am loving watching you come into yourself, I kind of feel like I am mourning my baby growing up.
But this is not about me, its about you.
I could not be more proud of the little boy you are and becoming. You don't give up. You do not let people push you around. You will jump into any game or activity and do it with gusto. You somehow demand attention, but do it in an adorable and endearing way--something I have never been able to do.  People like you. You are absolutely adorable (I know I am biased). You are so funny and goofy and so expressive with your eyes.  You are up for almost anything. Have very little fear, are extremely coordinated and physical and you have such a bright future.
You are a self proclaimed vegetarian, love red bell peppers and broccoli, nuts and fruit. But you also love your junk.  You looooove Maggie and can be found snuggling with her daily.

Your got a new bike for your birthday from me and your dad. Owen peaked and ruined the surprise for you but you were still just as excited. I was so bummed the surprise got ruined, but Owen had to write you an apology.
You jumped right on, zooming down the street, doing tricks, and smiling ear to ear!

Happiest of birthdays to you, Cash. I know its going to be an amazing year. I could not love you more.

Love, Mom

4th of July Weekend

We kicked off the weekend with the neighborhood parade and a last minute trip to the Janacek's Lake house at Canyon Lake. All 6 boys get along so well, it is really nice to hang out with them!

We went to Grey Rock again for another awesome fireworks show!

The boys decided they wanted to sell something to try and make money before the fireworks started. So we got a whole bunch of light-up rings and they boys (mostly Owen and Cash) hustled around selling them 2/$1. We started off asking just my friends to get them warmed up, and just before dark when they had to stop, they got their confidence!
On the actual 4th, we did some slip and sliding, some swimming--took (rather, pulled) Maggie for the first time, she did not care for the pool one bit! And a delicious dinner at my parents house! It was a pretty relaxed, but fun weekend!

Summer Recap

These first part of summer has flown by! We have been so busy! I left for Vegas for the JCK Jewelry Show with my parents and Ethan and Rachel for a few days--which was amazing just being there just the 5 of us.
Soon after that we left for the reunion, and then to the beach! But in between, we have found some really fun things to do around Austin to enjoy our summer!

Summer party at the Moncrief's Creek

We checked out Bubblepalooza for the first time this year and had a great morning!

Bartholomew pool with Carol and Sharon
One day when the Eli and Owen were at camp, Cash joined me for lunch with Lauren and Brooke at Maudie's. We had a couple hours to kill in the area and he wanted to swim but did not have suits with us. So we went next door to Goodwill, bought ourselves some new/old suits and headed over to Deep Eddy! It was such a fun spur of the moment swim with this guy!

Few trips to the greenbelt before it all dried up! And took Maggie for the first time!

Pool time, lots and lots of pool time.
Visits to visit my grandmother.
We took the boys fishing out at the Moncriefs creek and had the most successful morning out there! Everyone was so pleased and excited with their catch!

A visit to the store to see Pop and wish him a happy birthday in person! They take off their shoes at the door and totally take over the store, running around like crazy! And took advantage of the water cooler my dad puts outside the store every summer.

We said good-bye to Cash's buddy Lorelei. We are so sad she is moving to California, but so happy we got to see her one more time before they left!
We checked out Emma Long Park! And definitely plan to go back before the summer ends!

Lots of lounging around the house.
Free Slurpee day on 7-11!
Water balloon fights
And it would not be a proper summer with three boys without some injury....last week Cash slipped at the pool and busted his chin! I texted a friend who is a nurse who said he would need stitches....eeeek! But I decided to go to the doctors office first because they were willing to try to glue it first before stitches. She was skeptical, but was just barely able to get it closed with glue with the help of steri-strips! Phew. Close call.  He was such a trooper. The worst part of all of it is having to stay out of the water for a week! He will have a good scar to show for it when its healed!
